The CIGRE Paris Session is a leading international event in the power industry, gathering worldwide experts to discuss and learn about the Industry’s future. CIGRE Paris Session 2026 will take place from 23rd to 28th August 2026 at the Palais des Congrès, Paris, France. It will provide delegates with the chance to showcase the latest solutions across the whole value chain, from generation to distribution.
The Young Member (YM) Showcase is a unique opportunity for young professionals to present their work to leading experts from all around the world. Representatives will be selected for nomination by assessment of a full technical paper and presentation competition. YM Showcase winners will receive free conference tickets to the CIGRE Paris Session 2026 and a bursary for transport and accommodation.
The NGN Committee of CIGRE UK National Committee is delighted to invite its NGN members (resident in the UK) to prepare and submit their abstracts of proposed presentations for the upcoming 2026 Session to both the NGN Chair (chair@cigre-ngn-uk.org) and the Technical Team Lead (technical@cigre-ngn-uk.org), by 8th September 2025. After submitting the abstract, you will be notified by 14thSeptember whether you are shortlisted and invited to submit a full paper
Your chosen topic needs to align with one of the 16 CIGRE Study Committees. Abstracts will be scored on technical content, relevance to the selected Study Committee, and presentation of the material (structure, figures, etc.). Papers will be scored on novelty, definition of the problem, robustness, quality of writing etc.
This year, we’ll look to invite shortlisted candidates to submit a full paper, by 13th October 2025. You will be notified by 27thOctober whether you are finally shortlisted.
Lastly, the final shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in the showcase presentation competition. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to prepare a poster and give a presentation to a panel of senior judges and an audience of NGN members and otherCIGRE UK members at the presentation competition. Judging will be based on both the poster and the presentation. The presentation competition will be held on 20th November 2025 in a hybrid format. In-person attendance is highly recommended and the travel expenses can be reimbursed (subject to a cap). The event will take place at IET Austin Court, Birmingham.
The abstract must:
- Be in English.
- Use the template available from: Abstract template for NGN YM Showcase 2025
- Summarize the contents of the paper.
- Be a maximum of two pages, but a minimum of 500 words.

*Note: the final decision over whether a presenter can have a slot at the Paris Session will remain with the respective Study Committee chair.
