About this Technical Webinar:

Synopsis | This webinar will provide an introduction to Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS) technology and its implications for power grids.
The presentation will cover the following topics:

•  The role DACCS can play to support achieving global net zero targets.
•  How DACCS works and the different technologies involved.
•  The energy demands of DACCS and its impact on power grids.
•  The challenges and opportunities that DACCS presents to the power grid.
•  The importance of integrating DACCS planning and development with power network growth.
•  The need for supportive policies and incentives to accelerate the development and deployment of DACCS.

The webinar will conclude with a summary of the key takeaways and a call to action for the energy community to embrace DACCS as a crucial tool in the transition to a low-carbon, flexible energy system.

With a background in Business Studies and Economics, Sabrina has worked in the Energy industry for over 20 years in a variety of commercial roles, starting in traditional fossil power generation and moving increasingly into more renewable operations.
She is currently Head of Strategy for Siemens Energy UK&I and thrives on building strong cross-discipline networks and fostering collective leadership, for example in co-developing the original business model for the GeoPura, a high-tech start up company dedicated to providing clean energy solutions to a wide portfolio of industries. She is co-lead of the “Energy Transition Game”, which aims to help people of all ages understand the complexities behind this great challenge.
Passionate about the energy sector, Sabrina sees the opportunities and challenges Siemens Energy faces as a mirror to the wider Energy Transition.

Alex Middleton is an emerging leader in the energy sector, currently Business Manager (A65/A45) with Siemens Energy, based in Montreal, Canada. He has considerable experience within a business focusing on renewable energy and decarbonisation, a sector about which he is passionate. Alex recently completed the MSc Energy Systems programme at the University of Oxford, with his thesis specialising in DACCS integration within future energy systems. Outside of work, Alex enjoys getting outside in Canada, including running and ice hockey.

Vijay Shinde is a passionate leader in the energy sector, currently Head of New Technology Solutions at Siemens Energy. With 25+ years of expertise in grid stability and electricity storage, he combines technical know-how with regulatory insights to advance the energy transition.
A contributor to the International Energy Agency and Non-Executive Director at the UK’s Renewable Energy Association, Vijay is known for his strategic vision. Outside work, he’s a proud father, a natural athlete, and enjoys life in Newcastle, one of the UK’s friendliest cities.
