Types of Membership

There are a number of membership types

  1. Individual Membership (IM1)
  2. Individual Membership – newly graduated concession (IM1c)
  3. Individual Membership – under 35 years old (IM2)
  4. Individual Student Membership (IM3)
  5. Collective Membership (C1)
  6. Academic Institution Collective Membership (C2)

 

Individual Membership (IM1)

  • Open to individuals, based in the UK, involved in a CIGRE related industry.
  • The membership year runs from 1st January to the 31st December.  However, those wishing to join after the 1st July 2023 will be eligible for 18 months for the cost of 12 months membership (membership renewal on 1st January 2025).  This offer is only available to new members.
  • The membership allows:
    • Free access to e-cigre.org and publications
    • Access perspectives, expertise and peers from every corner of the globe
    • Be eligible for full technical participation and awards
    • Collaborate with experts and be prepared for the future
    • Contribute to sustainable electricity for the whole world
  • The annual fee for annual individual membership (IM1) is currently only £115

  • Please be aware, your organisation or academic institution may already have a CIGRE UK Collective Membership (C1) so you may already be eligible for membership through this route.  You can check on the list provided below.

 

Individual Membership (IM1c) newly graduated concession

  • The UK National Committee offers a subsidised (free) membership for a newly graduated individual involved in a CIGRE related industry.
  • This offer is for the first 3 years of membership
  • Note that this form of membership is unnecessary if the organisation that you work for has a Collective Membership (see the table below).

Individual Membership (IM2)

  • As for IM1 above but discounted by 50% for first two years of membership for an individual, involved in a CIGRE related industry, under 35 years old.
  • The annual fee for an annual individual membership (IM2) is £57.50

Individual Student Membership (IM3)

  • To qualify for Student Membership an applicant must prove, at a minimum, that they are a registered undergraduate or graduate student on a regular course of study in a CIGRE related power system field.
  • The total cumulative period for a member to hold a Student Membership level is limited to eight (8) years. The Student must be under age 35 at the start of the membership year.
  • The membership fee for Student membership is free.
  • Note that a Student Member is not considered as an Individual Members in terms of membership equivalence and has no vote at CIGRE’s General Assembly.
  • Student members have access to all documents in electronic form (publications, e-cigre …) and are automatically enrolled in the UK National NGN (Next Generation Network) section.

Collective Membership

For organisations engaged in a CIGRE related industry including, but not limited to, power system utilities, energy companies, scientific/technical organisations, research institutions, academic institutions, industry consultants, government/regulatory bodies, trade associations….

Collective Membership C1A

  • CIGRE UK Platinum sponsors: utility, energy companies and large corporations
  • Over 500 UK employees.
  • Eligible for 50 e-cigre accounts

 

Collective Membership C1B

  • CIGRE UK Gold sponsors: mid-level corporations, engineering firms and consultants.
  • 100 – 500 UK employees
  • Eligible for 50 e-cigre accounts

 

Collective Membership C1C

  • CIGRE UK Silver sponsors: small and medium sized companies, scientific/technical organisations,
  • Up to 100 UK employees
  • Eligible for 10 e-cigre accounts

 

Collective Membership C2

  • CIGRE UK Academic sponsor
  • Universities engaged in CIGRE related power systems courses
  • Eligible for 10 e-cigre accounts
