Journey to Zero Carbon Energy Systems

CIGRE WNUK is delighted to organise the next event on the “Journey to Zero Carbon Energy Systems”. The aim of the event is to highlight the available and future technologies for carbon reduction and explore the skillsets required for us to take on this challenge. The delegates will have the opportunity to hear from our key note speakers, to network with other delegates and exchange ideas on how their roles can contribute to the zero carbon targets. We have three engaging sessions prepared for you – all including interactive workshops:

  • Our first session aims at setting a scene and exploring what changes are needed to achieve zero carbon in the power industry.
  • The second session will explore at current and new technologies needed to create a zero carbon energy system and how different disciplines/expertise can incorporate these technologies.
  • Our third session will be a practical workshop to challenge delegates to explore the skillsets required to take on the zero carbon energy challenge.

This is a CPD accredited event and all presentation materials will be made available, exclusively to those attending, post event.

WNUK Summit Nov 2019

The women behind Carnegie Road Battery Storage System

Led by a member of CIGRE Women’s Network UK, Bridgit Hartland-Johnson, Investment Manager at Ørsted, and Biljana Stojkovska, Innovation manager at NGESO and Chair of CIGRE Women’s Network UK, a group of female engineers undertook an official visit to Ørstead 20MW Battery Storage site in Carnegie Road, Liverpool on the 11th January, 2019.

This project is a shining example of a diverse team led by 26 female engineers delivering new and innovative technology. Ørsted are developing this battery with the intention to demonstrate the ability to supply active and reactive power services to energy market.
