CIGRE UK’s Next Generation Network of young professionals, supported by the Energy Innovation Centre, is inviting innovative SMEs in the power systems space the chance to present at a two-day virtual technical innovation event in April.  The event will provide participating SMEs the opportunity to showcase their technical solutions to address the challenges as our power systems adapt to meet the net zero world.

If selected there will be an opportunity to present their innovation to a CIGRE panel of industry experts and senior Corporate Members. The event will also be open to a wide audience from the CIGRE community in the UK and beyond.  The event will publicised on the CIGRE UK website, by MailChimp e-shots to the CIGRE UK membership and via Social Media (primarily LinkedIn).

Each participant will be awarded a certificate acknowledging their participation and a complimentary Individual Membership for a nominated member of their team for 2022.

The form asks you to provide the following information:-

  • Title of the technical innovation/presentation
  • A short synopsis
  • A short biography of the presenter
  • A head/shoulders photograph of the presenter

Please indicate at which Technical Readiness Level the technical innovation has reached.  Note that any information presented must already be in the public domain and that the presentation should focus on the technical innovation and avoid commercial promotion.  A slide describing the company will be acceptable.

Event Details

When: 26th& 27th April 2022, 14:00 – 17:00 (BST) each day (each SME will be expected to present at one of the two days)

Outline Agenda:

  • Day 1: Keynote talk from author, innovation & creativity guru Dennis Sherwood, followed by 3 selected SMEs’ presentations and a networking session.
  • Day 2: One keynote talk from a member fo the Energy Systems Catapult giving examples of provision support to SMEs, such as research on international markets, consumers insights and business modelling, followed by 3 selected SMEs’ presentations and a networking session.

Promotion:  The event will publicised on the CIGRE UK website, by MailChimp e-shots, other CIGRE National Committees and CIGRE Social Media (LinkedIn).

On the day of the event

  • CIGRE UK uses CISCO WebEx for its online technical events. The CIGRE UK Events team will set-up the WebEx event and the presenter will receive an invitation as a speaker.
  • Final presentations must be submitted no later that the 18thApril 2022.
  • The presentation should be timed to last between 20 and 25 minutes, leaving 5 to 10 minutes for Q&A from the Panel.
  • The presenter is asked to make their presentation publicly available in .pdf format following the event so that it can be made available to those individuals that have registered and posted on the CIGRE UK website. With the agreement of the presenter, the presentation will also be recorded.

Testing the WebEx set-up: It is recommended that a test is performed a day or two before the event to ensure good connectivity and sound quality. The CIGRE Host will be in touch to agree a date/time.
