Optimising subsea cable sizing: through improved modelling

An Online Technical Webinar

Wednesday 10th February 2021 | 12.30 to 13:30

.

As offshore wind farms have grown in number, in size and in distance from the shore, so too has the need for subsea high voltage power cables. With cabling now representing a significant part of the total cost of constructing wind farm projects, it is essential to optimise the design of the cable system such that it is best sized to cope with the required loads. Multiple separate activities are ongoing within Cigre B1 which will contribute to this optimisation process in the future. This webinar will introduce some of the challenges being tackled within Cigre B1, exploring the way in which the cable sizing models used in the design phase can be refined to ensure that the correct cable is selected for each project.
